1966 Replica/Kit Makes Description

I purchased this car approximately two years ago after a 10 year hibernation in the previous owners garage. I changed the oil, flushed the fuel system, gave it a tune up and it came right back to life. I then rebuilt the entire brake system, installed a new steering column and shaft, put some Ford 17" wire wheels with Excelsior tires on it and it was again roadworthy. A few trips around the block and it was time for a cosmetic freshening. I took the seat to the upholstery shop for some firm, modern foam. The rest of the interior and luggage compartment were freshened up with new material. Next the body components were disassembled, sanded down and coated in single stage Bugatti Blue. Stainless steel Model A Ford headlights and taillights were added, as well as a pair of Brooklands wind screens. The entire car was rewired, an Optima battery installed and new VDO gauges were placed in the dashboard. A wood rimmed Lecarra steering wheel finishes out the interior. Since its completion I have put approximately 100 miles on it and have shaken all of the "new build bugs"out of it (not that it had many, the car is so simple)! I have driven it to work every day this week it hasn't rained in real life traffic with no fear. It really works great. Starts, stops, steers, runs perfect. The only bad I can report on this car is that it leaks a small amount of oil on the garage floor over night (as do all VW's of this era, I'm sure). Not enough to lower the level on the stick in the last couple months, but I wanted to be absolutely honest about it. Real life stuff has once again gotten in the way of my toys, so I regretfully have it listed here for your consideration. The car is available for inspection in Macungie, PA by appointment.
