1970 saw the birth of the Chevelle SS454 LS6, the largest-displacement and most powerful Chevrolet muscle car built to that time and the enduring champion of the muscle car wars. One of the handsomest cars of the era, the 1970 Chevelle and the LS6 engine, which the factory underrated at 450 HP and 500 lb-ft of torque, were a marriage made in muscle car heaven. The LS6 big block engine was packed with all the time-tested horsepower-producing technology, including a forged steel crank in beefy 4-bolt mains, forged steel connecting rods and aluminum pistons, a high lift, high duration solid lifter cam, an 800 CFM Holley 4-barrel on an aluminum dual plane intake manifold and gargantuan intake and exhaust valves in high flow heads. Presented here is a beautiful example of a restored original LS6 Chevelle in its original factory color of Shadow Gray. Restored to original specifications, it is equipped with the matching numbers LS6 454/450 HP solid-lifter big block engine and matching numbers Muncie M22 “Rock Crusher” 4-speed transmission. When accompanied with a 3.31 positraction rear end as this car is equipped, the result is slammed back in the seat and tire burning acceleration. In addition to F41 heavy duty suspension, power front disc brakes and power steering, this Concours-quality frame-off restored LS6 coupe sports a cowl induction hood with hold-down pins, black SS stripes, SS five-spoke wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires black bench seat interior and AM push button radio. Documentation includes the original build sheet & National LS6 Registry certificate!
